1-What is Flishr?

Flishr is a tool for searching in Flickr, find interesting photos, find groups, users and even you can go on a time trip to find the photos that have been submitted or even have been captures in a special day!!!
Imagine that you have sit beside a lake of photos and you want to gather the desired photos with a net just as you do fishing beside a lake.

1.1-Minimum requirements

• Microsoft windows NT/2000/XP/Vista
• Pentium 300-megahertz (MHz) processor or faster
• At least 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM (256 MB is recommended)
• At least 100 megabytes (MB) of available space on the hard disk 
• Keyboard and a Microsoft Mouse or some other compatible pointing device
• Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600)or higher resolution 
• Connection to Internet.{Make sure that www.flickr.com is not filtered for your IP}
• The Flickr ID. If you don’t already have a Flickr ID, you can create one at http://www.flickr.com/signup/
• You must install .NET framework in order to be able to use Flishr. You can download it here.

1.3-How to uninstall Flishr?

You can remove Flishr through these steps: Start menu >> Settings >> contro panel >> add or remove programs >> remove Flishr.

1.4- Upgrade to a new version

We will notify you with the welcome message in your Flishr, once a newer version released. You can easily download it through Flishr website.
When a newer version released , your Flishr may not work peoperly. The solution is to upgrade to the latest version.

2-Quick Start

You have access to the tools through main menu or the quick shortcuts. The main steps you should pass are:

• Make sure that www.flickr.com is not filtered for your IP.
• Authorize to the Flickr.
• Set the options menu.

2.1-Main functions of Flishr

After authorization, you could use the different functions of Flishr. Each function is reachable through 3 different methods:

• Flishr menu
• Quick shortcuts
• Keyboard shortcuts

Main functions of Flishr are:

• Upload: Allows you to upload your photos to Flickr.
• Search and Download: Allows you to search photos by tag, group, user ID and date of uploading; and download the photos you would like to have a copy of, to your PC.
• Manage: Allows you to manage your sets, collections, etc and also synchronize folders with collection files.

Each function includes various parts which will be described in details...

2.2-How to authorize?

• Choose Authorize from File menu , the quick shortcuts or press (ALT+A)
• Make sure that you pass the tree steps that are mentioned in authorize window.

• First click the Authorize Me button . no.1
• Now you will be redirected to flickr home page. You should login there with your flickr ID. If you don’t have any Flickr ID yet, you can create one at http://flickr.com/signup/
• After you logged into Flickr , press the "OK, I'll allow it" button to allow Flishr using Flickr API. Of course you need to grant read access to Flishr, so it can search Flickr on behalf of you; And you need to grant write access, so Flishr can upload your photos to your Flickr account.
• After Authorizing Flishr by your Flickr account you must come back to Authorization window again and click the Continue button.no.2.

If the Authorization window was closed within authorizing process, you must open the Authorization window again and click the continue button.

2.3-Options

You should set some features in setting to customize Flishr for yourself.

• In part no.1 you can choose the maximum number of the shown results from the drop down.
• You can customize the default download folder in textbox no.2 . This is the folder that your downloaded photos will be stored in.
• You can customize the default upload folder in textbox no.3 . This is the first folder that will be explored when using upload.
• You can ask Flishr to make a separate folder in you deafult download folder for each download . Check checkBox no.4.
• Part no.5. is for proxy setting for your Flishr.
• With every download, the downloaded photos’ thumbnail will be stored in the cache memory. You can clean it by easily clicking button no.6.
• Now just easily save the options setting.

3-Main functions of Flishr

3.1-Upload

You can select upload function from File menu, the quick shortcuts or simply press {Alt+U}. There are three steps to upload photos:

I-Select photos

• You can select the photos from your hard disk by choosing button no.1.
• Button no.2 lets you to choose to see the thumbnails or the pictures' detail.
• Arrows no.3 lets you to move the pictures that you have selected from the window in left side to the right side and the oposit.
• Arrows no.4 move all the photos in the left side to the right and vise versa.
• After you placed the photos you want to be uploaded in the selected photos window, click on button no.5 (next step).
You can easily drag and drop the icons from left to right or vise versa.

II- Set Data
At this step, if you want to set the settings for the photo, you should click on Set Data to selected photos button, other wise just go to next step. If you want to set data, you will see the following form.

This feature lets you select your photos from your hard disk and upload them to Flickr. You can upload a single photo or a bunch of photos. Flishr lets you set all the settings you have in Flickr.

• You can put a setting name in the textbox no.1 and save it. Flishr will keep this setting for you , so you are able to use it in future and you don’t have to enter the same information each time.
• You can easily set title, tags and description for the photo as you do in Flickr.
• In part no.2 you can adjust if you want the photo(s) be public or private.
• In part no. 3 you will see your own sets in Flickr.
• And no. 4 shows you all the groups that you are a member in Flickr, so you can choose those which you want to add the new uploaded photo in them.
• When you set all the features for you photos , just click on button no.5.
• Now you should go to the final step by clicking button no.6 (Next step).

Please note that you are able to label the whole setting with a name in text box no.1 and you can choose it in future from the setting drop down for further use.

III- Upload Photos Now just click the upload photos button. Flishr is uploading your selected photos and is setting all your desired features. After the process is finished, you can check your Flickr page and enjoy the result.

3.2-Search

You have access to four main search methods through Search menu and quick shortcuts. There are four search options in Flishr.

3.2.1-Photos

{Alt + p} At this part you can search the photos in the Flickr.

• You can set the date range that the photo has been captured. No. 1
• You can set the date range that the photo has been updated. No. 2
• You can set the photo tag, description.
• In the drop down No. 3 you can choose the desired parameter for results sorting.
• At part no. 4 you can select or deselect the license of the photo. By button no. 5 you can select or deselect all the licenses.
• When every setting is finished, please click on search button. No. 6.

At this step you can choose the photos you like from the thumbnails to be downloaded.

• In textbox no.1 you can choose the size of the photo you want to be downloaded. Please be noted that if your desires size is not available in the Flickr, Flishr is not able to download it.
• Buttons no.2 are for selecting or deselecting all the thumbnails.
• By button no. 3 you can download the selected photo. Flishr makes a folder in your default download folder and puts the downloaded photos in that.
• In dropdown no.4 you can choose one of your pre defined collections , select some thumbnails and add them to the selected collection by button no.5. Flishr makes a folder named by the collection’s name. This folder is created in the collection folder, in the folder that Flishr has been installed. (for example: C:\Program Files\Flishr\Collections\mycollection1) You can find the selected thumbnails and an XML file in this folder. The XML file contains the URL address of the selected photos and you can later use it to download the photos.
• You can change the result page by button no.6.

3.2.2-Groups

You can easily search the existing groups in Flickr.

• Just enter the title or the topic of the group in textbox no.1 and click the search button no.2 to see the list of existing groups.
• No you can easily double click on the group’s name to see the photos in that group and download those you like.

3.2.3-Interesting photos

You can enter a date and Flishr finds the interesting photos that were uploaded at that time. Then easily choose and download them.

3.2.4-User’s photos

You can ask Flishr to show you the photos of a Flickr user.

• no.1 You can enter either username or yahoo email of photographer and click find. Flishr will find the user ID for you.
• no.2 Then you can choose search to see the user’s photos in Flickr.

3.3-Managing

3.3.1-Sets

By this function, you can simply create and edit your sets without connecting to Flickr website. You should insert the title and description and choose the primary photo, then click add new button. By clicking edit selected button, you can edit a selected set's title, description and primary photo. This function is accessible through FlickrTrapper Menu, Quick shortcut and keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+S).

3.3.2-Collections

You can create collections and add your desired photos to them. By inserting the collection name and clicking on add new button, the collection's folder will be added to the target folder of Flishr. This function is accessible through Flishr Menu, Quick shortcut and keyboard shortcut (Alt+C).

When you add some photos to a collection in search phase ,Flishr makes a folder named by the collection's name. This folder is created in the collection folder, in the folder that Flishr has been installed. (for example: C:\Program Files\Flishr\Collections\mycollection1) You can find the selected thumbnails and an XML file in this folder. The XML file contains the URL address of the selected photos and you can later use it to download the photos.

3.3.3-Tags

You can manage your tags even in offline mode by using this function! You just need to insert tag name and then insert as many as tags that you want to it and then click on add new button. The next time you want to upload photos to Flickr, you can simply select tag collections for your photos. This function is accessible through Flishr Menu, Quick shortcut and keyboard shortcut (Alt+T).

3.3.4-Descriptions

Managing descriptions is the same as managing tags. By pre-managing descriptions offline, you don’t need to waste your time to type description for each photo; rather you can select the proper description for each photo from this list. This function is accessible through Flishr Menu, Quick shortcut and keyboard shortcut (Alt+D).

3.3.5-Synchronizing collection with a folder

This function is a cleanup tool for your collections. When you delete one or more thumbnail in a collection folder, the number of collection photos in the search window may be not updated. This function will clean the collection file from deleted items. You just need to simply open the synchronizing window which is accessible through Flishr menu and Quick shortcut, and then select the collection file you want to synchronize. The synchronization will be done at once!
